Cette bobine produit un champ magn\u00e9tique alternatif autour de lui-m\u00eame. Le champ magn\u00e9tique ainsi engendr\u00e9 oscille \u00e0 la m\u00eame fr\u00e9quence que le courant traversant la bobine. Lorsque la bobine s&#8217;approche d&#8217;un mat\u00e9riau conducteur, des courants oppos\u00e9s \u00e0 ceux de la bobine sont induits dans le mat\u00e9riau selon la loi de Lenz. Ce sont des courants de Foucault.<\/p>\n<p>Des variations de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s physiques, telles que la conductivit\u00e9 \u00e9lectrique et la perm\u00e9abilit\u00e9 magn\u00e9tique de l&#8217;objet de test, et la pr\u00e9sence de d\u00e9fauts, provoquent une variation des courants de Foucault. Un changement de phase et d&#8217;amplitude correspondant, qui peut \u00eatre d\u00e9tect\u00e9 en mesurant les changements d&#8217;imp\u00e9dance dans la bobine, s&#8217;affiche alors sur l&#8217;\u00e9cran d&#8217;un instrument.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;inspection par courants de Foucault poss\u00e8de un tr\u00e8s large \u00e9ventail d&#8217;applications.
